Summary
Loved by the Plus Sign
by ChaShiree M
Vanessa
My life has never been a fairytale. I didn’t have the attentive parents, the friends I could talk too, or the home filled with safety and love. What I have always had was a big sister I could depend on and a love for helping others. Being the fat girl was always my Achilles heel until a guy showed some interest in me in college. Then, he broke my heart and butchered what self-esteem I had left. I vowed to never again let anyone have that much power over me. Until Pedro dropped into my life.
I want to believe everything he says, but, how can I? I might not have a choice when that plus sign shows up.
Pedro
I wasn’t looking for Vanessa, but I sure as hell am more than happy when I find her. She is everything I have been waiting for. Beautiful, kind, strong and most of all, MINE!!! Even though she is trying to fight it and doesn't believe it.
She gives in to what is inevitable one night and finally I can make her see everything I have been trying to tell her. SHE IS MY EVERYTHING!!!! Our future is my reason for living and I won't even let her darken that sun.
Join Vanessa and Pedro as they let their love carry them to their future.

ChaShiree M.'s Loved by the Plus Sign is a poignant exploration of love, self-discovery, and the journey towards self-acceptance. The novel delves into the complexities of self-image and the transformative power of love, offering readers a heartfelt narrative that resonates on multiple levels.
At the heart of the story is Vanessa, a character whose life has been anything but a fairytale. From the outset, Vanessa is portrayed as a woman who has faced significant challenges, including a lack of supportive family dynamics and a painful past relationship that left her self-esteem in tatters. Her journey is one of resilience and vulnerability, and ChaShiree M. does an exceptional job of crafting a character who is both relatable and inspiring. Vanessa's struggle with her self-image, particularly in the context of being the "fat girl," is depicted with sensitivity and authenticity. This theme is central to the novel, as it explores how societal perceptions and personal experiences shape one's self-worth.
Enter Pedro, a character who is the embodiment of unwavering love and devotion. His introduction into Vanessa's life is a turning point in the narrative, and his perspective adds a refreshing dimension to the story. Pedro's character is defined by his determination to show Vanessa her true worth and his unwavering belief that she is his everything. His love for Vanessa is portrayed as both passionate and patient, a combination that is both endearing and compelling. The dynamic between Vanessa and Pedro is the driving force of the novel, and their relationship is depicted with a depth that is both realistic and aspirational.
The novel's title, Loved by the Plus Sign, is a clever play on words that encapsulates the dual themes of love and self-acceptance. The "plus sign" is symbolic not only of Vanessa's body image but also of the unexpected pregnancy that becomes a pivotal moment in the story. This plot development is handled with care, as it forces Vanessa to confront her fears and insecurities while also opening her heart to the possibility of a future filled with love and family. The pregnancy serves as a catalyst for Vanessa's transformation, pushing her to reevaluate her self-worth and embrace the love that Pedro offers unconditionally.
ChaShiree M.'s writing style is both engaging and emotive, drawing readers into the emotional landscape of the characters. The alternating perspectives of Vanessa and Pedro provide a comprehensive view of their relationship, allowing readers to understand the motivations and emotions of both protagonists. This narrative technique enhances the depth of the story, as it highlights the contrast between Vanessa's internal struggles and Pedro's external expressions of love and support.
One of the novel's strengths is its exploration of themes that are universally relevant. The struggle for self-acceptance, the impact of past traumas, and the healing power of love are themes that resonate with readers from all walks of life. Vanessa's journey is a testament to the idea that love can be a powerful force for change, and that true acceptance comes from within. The novel also challenges societal norms and stereotypes, particularly those related to body image, by presenting a protagonist who defies conventional beauty standards and finds love and happiness on her own terms.
In comparison to other contemporary romance novels, Loved by the Plus Sign stands out for its focus on character development and emotional depth. While many romance novels rely on formulaic plots and superficial characterizations, ChaShiree M. offers a narrative that is both nuanced and impactful. The novel's emphasis on personal growth and the transformative power of love sets it apart from other works in the genre, making it a standout read for those seeking a romance that is both heartfelt and thought-provoking.
Overall, Loved by the Plus Sign is a beautifully crafted story that captures the essence of love and self-discovery. ChaShiree M. has created a narrative that is both touching and empowering, offering readers a glimpse into the lives of characters who are as flawed as they are lovable. Vanessa and Pedro's journey is one that will resonate with anyone who has ever struggled with self-doubt or sought solace in the arms of a loved one. This novel is a testament to the idea that love, in all its forms, has the power to heal and transform, making it a must-read for fans of contemporary romance.
