Conan
The first time I saw Demi fighting in an underground cage match, I was captivated by her strength and ability to kick the… assets of a competitor who was easily twice her size. I pursued her, hoping to make her mine, but despite the chemistry between us, she had a wall that was bigger than the wall of China. Still, I vowed I was going to break through to the heart of her and then, I was going to tie her to me in any way I could. Old lady, wife, mother of my children.
When it becomes known that she endured something no woman ever should, I practically move in with her despite her objections and promise that the club will eradicate those who hurt her so terribly. I’m the kind of man who honors any vow he makes, especially to Demi, even if she still doesn’t believe it.
Demi
Fun times with Conan after we met while I was still fighting are awesome, but I draw the line at being in a committed relationship. Nope, no way, no how. My life has been anything but sugar and spice with everything nice. Love is an illusion, it’s not real, just something the card companies promote to sell their wares. Even though my bestie is a romance author, I still have a difficult time believing it’s true that one person can trust another enough to give all of themselves to them. Not me, it’s never going to happen.
However, Conan has other ideas and he’s like a dog with a bone, he won’t leave it alone. He all but moves in with me when he finds out about my assault and slowly begins wearing me down.
I’m still a bit jaded, but Conan keeps every promise he makes to me, including getting rid of the four men I trusted because we’d worked together for years, who drugged me then violated me on a work trip. Not only did his club take care of them, but beforehand, he let Demoness out to play, which I’ve not been able to do for quite some time.

Liberty Parker's Conan is a gripping tale that delves into the complexities of trust, love, and redemption, set against the gritty backdrop of underground cage fighting and the raw world of motorcycle clubs. The novel is a compelling exploration of two strong-willed characters, Conan and Demi, whose lives intersect in a whirlwind of passion, trauma, and healing.
The story kicks off with a powerful introduction to Demi, a fierce and resilient fighter who commands attention in the underground cage fighting scene. Her strength and independence are immediately captivating, and Parker does a commendable job of portraying a female protagonist who is both physically and emotionally formidable. Demi's character is layered with a past that is both haunting and motivating, making her journey throughout the novel both engaging and heart-wrenching.
Conan, on the other hand, is introduced as a man of determination and loyalty. His initial attraction to Demi is based on admiration for her strength, but as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that his intentions run deeper. Conan's character is a refreshing take on the archetypal alpha male; he is protective without being overbearing, and his respect for Demi's autonomy is a testament to Parker's skill in crafting a nuanced male lead. His unwavering commitment to breaking down Demi's walls and supporting her through her trauma is both touching and inspiring.
Themes of trust and healing are central to the narrative. Demi's reluctance to enter a committed relationship is rooted in her past experiences, which Parker reveals with sensitivity and depth. The novel does not shy away from addressing the impact of trauma, particularly sexual assault, and the journey towards reclaiming one's power. Demi's struggle with trust is palpable, and her gradual acceptance of Conan's love and support is portrayed with authenticity and care.
Conan's role in Demi's healing process is significant, yet Parker ensures that Demi's agency is never compromised. The dynamic between the two characters is a dance of push and pull, with Conan respecting Demi's boundaries while gently encouraging her to open up. This balance is crucial in maintaining the integrity of Demi's character and highlights the importance of mutual respect in relationships.
One of the standout aspects of Conan is its exploration of the concept of family and loyalty within the motorcycle club community. The club's involvement in avenging Demi's assault is a testament to the strong bonds and unwavering loyalty that define this subculture. Parker paints a vivid picture of a world where justice is served on one's own terms, and the camaraderie among club members adds depth to the narrative.
In terms of character development, both Conan and Demi undergo significant transformations. Conan's journey is one of patience and understanding, as he learns to navigate Demi's defenses and prove his love through actions rather than words. Demi's evolution is equally compelling, as she learns to trust again and embrace the possibility of a future filled with love and security. Parker's ability to portray these transformations with subtlety and realism is commendable.
Comparatively, Conan shares thematic similarities with other romance novels that explore the healing power of love, such as Kristen Ashley's Motorcycle Man and Tillie Cole's Hades Hangmen series. However, Parker's unique blend of romance, action, and emotional depth sets her work apart. Her ability to weave a narrative that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant is a testament to her storytelling prowess.
Overall, Conan is a compelling read that offers a fresh perspective on the romance genre. Liberty Parker's skillful character development, combined with her exploration of complex themes, makes this novel a standout in its field. The story's impact lies in its ability to portray the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of love and trust. For readers seeking a romance that is both intense and heartfelt, Conan is a must-read.
In conclusion, Liberty Parker has crafted a narrative that is as much about personal growth and healing as it is about romance. Conan is a testament to the strength of its characters and the power of love to overcome even the darkest of pasts. It is a story that will resonate with readers long after the final page is turned, leaving them with a renewed belief in the possibility of redemption and the enduring nature of love.
