Claimed By A Cowboy

Life on a ranch is the life for me. I love the wide-open spaces, the blue skies and crystal-clear streams that make life worth living. Being free to roam the hills and valleys at Iron H Ranch has brought me peace. A peace I never thought possible for a man like me. I am not the guy who gets the girl, settles down with some babies and a fairytale ending. This place saved me from a life of aimless loneliness. That means when they tell me I will be bid on like a piece of livestock, I don’t even mind.
When a pretty little filly with adventure shimmering in her pretty blues snaps me up, I even feel a little honored to get her bid.
What she doesn’t know is—she might be the one paying the auctioneer, but I will be the one doing the claiming.
Rubi
From the time I knew what a passport was, I lived for travel. I had been around the world five times by the time I was in my twenties. I ignore anyone who says I keep on the move because I am running from something. Who doesn’t want to see the Thames, The Coliseum, and….a cowboy ranch? When I come across an auction for brooding, beefy cowboys one night after a few too many cups of wine, I figure why not? Why not spend a weekend at a ranch with a hot cowboy?
When I show up to the ranch, I realize I got a whole lot more than I paid for.
I got the hottest man I have ever met, a man who makes me feel like maybe I was wandering this world looking for him.

Dee Ellis's Claimed By A Cowboy is a delightful foray into the world of romance, set against the backdrop of the expansive and serene Iron H Ranch. The novel is a compelling blend of adventure, self-discovery, and the transformative power of love. It offers readers a chance to escape into a world where the rugged charm of cowboys meets the restless spirit of a world traveler. Through the perspectives of Wylder and Rubi, Ellis crafts a narrative that is both heartwarming and engaging.
At the heart of the story is Wylder, a character who embodies the quintessential cowboy spirit. His love for the ranch and the peace it brings him is palpable. Wylder's character is well-developed, with a backstory that adds depth to his persona. He is a man who has found solace in the simplicity and beauty of ranch life, a stark contrast to his past filled with loneliness. Ellis does a commendable job of portraying Wylder as a man who is content with his life, yet open to the unexpected changes that love can bring. His acceptance of being "bid on like a piece of livestock" is a testament to his laid-back and accepting nature, which is both endearing and intriguing.
Rubi, on the other hand, is the embodiment of wanderlust. Her character is vibrant and full of life, driven by a desire to explore the world and experience all it has to offer. Ellis captures Rubi's adventurous spirit beautifully, making her a relatable character for anyone who has ever felt the pull of the unknown. Her decision to bid on a cowboy after a few glasses of wine is impulsive yet perfectly in line with her character. It is this spontaneity that leads her to Wylder and sets the stage for a romance that is as unexpected as it is inevitable.
The chemistry between Wylder and Rubi is electric from the moment they meet. Ellis skillfully builds their relationship, allowing it to develop naturally over the course of the novel. The dynamic between the two characters is a highlight of the book, with their contrasting personalities complementing each other perfectly. Wylder's grounded nature provides a counterbalance to Rubi's adventurous spirit, creating a relationship that is both passionate and stable.
One of the central themes of Claimed By A Cowboy is the idea of finding home in unexpected places. For Wylder, the ranch is his sanctuary, a place where he has found peace and purpose. For Rubi, who has spent her life traveling, the concept of home is more elusive. Through her relationship with Wylder, she begins to realize that home is not necessarily a place, but a feeling—a sense of belonging that she finds in Wylder's arms. This theme is explored with sensitivity and depth, making it a poignant aspect of the story.
Ellis also touches on the theme of self-discovery. Both Wylder and Rubi undergo significant personal growth throughout the novel. Wylder learns to open his heart to the possibility of love and a future he never imagined for himself. Rubi, on the other hand, discovers that her restless spirit can find peace and fulfillment in the right circumstances. Their journeys of self-discovery are interwoven with their developing romance, adding layers to the narrative and making their story all the more compelling.
In terms of writing style, Ellis employs a straightforward yet evocative prose that captures the essence of the ranch and the emotions of her characters. The descriptions of the landscape are vivid, painting a picture of the wide-open spaces and natural beauty that define the setting. This attention to detail enhances the reader's immersion in the story, making the ranch feel like a character in its own right.
Comparatively, Claimed By A Cowboy shares similarities with other romance novels set in rural or ranch settings, such as those by authors like Linda Lael Miller or Diana Palmer. However, Ellis distinguishes her work through the unique premise of the cowboy auction and the strong character development of both protagonists. The novel's blend of humor, romance, and introspection sets it apart, offering a fresh take on a beloved genre.
Overall, Claimed By A Cowboy is a charming and satisfying read that will appeal to fans of contemporary romance. Dee Ellis has crafted a story that is both entertaining and emotionally resonant, with characters that linger in the reader's mind long after the final page is turned. Whether you're a seasoned romance reader or new to the genre, this novel offers a delightful escape into a world where love conquers all, and where the journey to finding one's true home is as rewarding as the destination.
